Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is a perfect Provençal village. Located in the Vaucluse department of Provence, it is a quiet, unspoiled village with spectacular views from the top. Walk the charming stone pathway to the ancient ruins above for a rewarding sight. It’s a photographer’s dream!
Here lie the ruins of a medieval castle and a Romanesque chapel along with a lovely little lake. There is also a very narrow path to an ancient windmill, where stunning views of the village rooftops await.
The village itself is very quiet and peaceful with only the occasional tourist or a lazy cat basking in the sun. There are two great restaurants to choose from for lunch. The first, L’Estrade, seems to be a favorite with locals. It serves excellent Provençal fare at reasonable prices. The second, le Saint Hubert Hotel restaurant, is a real find because of the stunning view from the terrace. We enjoyed both restaurants but keep returning to le Saint Hubert for the incredible view.
Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is a must for a true Provençal village experience. But please! Let’s not tell too many people. Let’s keep this unspoiled, quintessential Provençal village all to ourselves.
À bientôt!
I’d love to bask at one of these restaurants, enjoy a meal & some wine…then flâner about, take in every little thing. Je l’adore Provence.
